Course Overview

The Diploma in Anesthesia & Critical Care Technician is a specialized program focused on training students in anesthesia administration and critical care management. This two-year program equips learners with essential skills to assist anesthesiologists during surgical procedures and provide critical care support in emergency situations.

The course covers anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, patient monitoring, airway management, resuscitation procedures, and critical care protocols. Students are trained to prepare equipment, assist in anesthesia induction and recovery, and respond effectively in emergency situations in operation theatres and intensive care units.

Practical training helps students gain hands-on experience in hospital environments, operating rooms, ICUs, and emergency departments.

After completion, graduates can work in hospitals, trauma centers, surgical units, and critical care facilities as part of the medical support team.



Admission Eligibility

Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) or Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as the main subjects.

The minimum required percentage of marks is 40%.

The candidate must have attained a minimum age of 17 years and should not be more than 30 years of age as of 31st December of the year of admission.

Modules

The Diploma in Anesthesia & Critical Care Technician (D.A.C.C.T.) is a two‑year undergraduate diploma program with an additional six‑month internship, designed to train students in anesthesia procedures, operation theatre assistance, and critical care management.

In the first year, students study Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, and Fundamentals of Anesthesia Technology, which provide the scientific foundation for anesthesia practice. The second year focuses on Applied Anesthesia Technology, Pharmacology related to Anesthesia, Critical Care Medicine, Operation Theatre Techniques, and Patient Monitoring & Ethics.
