Course Overview

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course is a comprehensive diploma program designed to train students in the field of nursing and midwifery. The course duration is typically three years.

Admission Eligibility

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with English as a compulsory subject and a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate from a recognized board.
  • For Vocational ANM courses, candidates must have passed 10+2 with English as a compulsory subject and a minimum of 40% marks from a school recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.
  • For Vocational Stream – Health Care Science from a recognized CBSE board/centre, candidates must have passed 10+2 with English as a compulsory subject and a minimum of 40% marks in aggregate.
  • Minimum age for admission is 17 years and maximum age is 30 years as on 31st December of the admission year.
  • Candidates must have cleared the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU).

Modules

The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma is a three‑year program followed by a six‑month internship, designed to train students in essential nursing and midwifery skills.

In the first year, students study Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Psychology, Fundamentals of Nursing, and First Aid, which provide the scientific and practical foundation for nursing care. The second year focuses on Medical‑Surgical Nursing, Pharmacology, Sociology, Community Health Nursing I, and Communication and Educational Technology.
